We had impressive academics and a very snazzy bekilted band. Then dinner, a choir concert and Mike Super (illusionist). I recommend you check him out. He is very good and is going to have a tv show soon, I guess. Martha couldn't go; she had physics homework to do. Love that girl!!

And here are a couple of scenic shots we took in West Virginia and Pennsylvania yesterday. I think Ohio is way more picturesque, don't you?

Ohio. We've been eating good stick-to-your-ribs Amish food. Leaving in a bit to take a LONG walk.

Hello from airports!
These pictures are from my "herewegoagain" collection.
Taken yesterday on route to Ohio. I didn't take any pix once we got here. Yet. Martha has her first mechanics test today, so we saw her only briefly. She's such a studier..... good, good.

Goodbye, Emi. It was sure nice to see you. ... She's gone from the shores of the great lakes back to her island home. And Dave and I are temporarily back in our desert home, preparing for another trip to the heartland.
We will join Martha for the parents' weekend festivities this coming weekend... and then 2 weekends later, Linfield will fascinate the folks.

Well, even though we're stuck in Detroit
(eek!) I couldn't disappoint you blogger faithfuls. So, two more pictures. We drove to Wooster!!! It was a long drive, but Martha took us on a deluxe tour which included rooftop sneaking and physics lab and we even got to see some real live physics and computer geeks!

Emily went with us to the botanical garden and made friends with the flora and fauna. We also went to the umma and saw some terrific moving art. I'll try to post some video when I have more time.

We found Steve. That's his very huge dorm in the background of the first picture. You can tell from this second photo that he is just a frail shadow of his former self.... but he assures us he's on the mend and will buff up soon! We went out to the big house (i suspect that's supposed to be all caps) for a photo op. I have to confess, this photo is a prize winner!

Thursday in Ann Arbor we watched the Wolverine marching band practicing for the big (televised) Notre Dame game. It was very moving... they blew us away!! Very fun.

Today was a very good Michigan day for us. We drove to Ann Arbor and met up with Emily. What a delightful person! She is one of MU's shining graduate stars. We saw her apartment, had lunch, browsed a book store or two and then she went to class.

And for those who are wondering... Butterscotch is being well-cared-for by the lovely M. Hibbard!

We are in Michigan and we saw Emi! She doesn't like me and my camera.... but I know you faithful bloggers out there want to see her, too. And look at this brew! Kalamazoo Stout! ok. later.

We are headed to the airport soon. We're flying to Michigan to see everybody'sfavoriteexchagestudent Emi, sick Stephen, educated Emily, and marvelous Martha. Bon voyage to us!

I rarely post without putting up a picture. I guess I'm a firm believer that a picture is worth 1000 words.

One of my sunflowers is pale. All around it are bright yellows but this one is quietly beautiful. I suppose we all know people like that, eh?

Addy has come to visit us for the weekend. She is such a bouncy good dog. I wish I could get a good action photo of her, but she is just too quick. She does stay still occasionally, briefly - except for her tail; that keeps moving!
It is fun to watch her frolicking. Seems almost as if she could jump our 6-foot fence. She jumps straight up like a deer. Butter is staying cool on the subject, but is avoiding the backyard. And since Addy is not coming in the house, they seem to be getting along fine!

EMI. Where are you?

I like these pictures of the Grand Lodge. All of the McMennamin's properties are quite an experience. This one has music on the lawn (as do most/many) and a movie theatre and a soaking pool in the garden. And, of course, I could take many hours just trying to glimpse all of the art work. It's so much more fun than staying in your average accomodation.

Went to visit Gene in his new place. Nice decor? He's such a college senior this year! I think he's lined out to have a pretty good year! And Dave and I are back to being empty-nesters. So I already booked parents' weekends at both colleges, mom's weekend at linfield, and hotel rooms for graduation weekend! Not that Dave and I don't have a good life on our own. That picture of Dave is us having breakfast in the bar at the Grand Lodge on our way home from McMinnville. We were watching the Michigan game, hoping to see Steve in the game or Ralph in the stands! fun.
