Well, I'm not in Moscow and I'm not sick. But I am having technical camera problems, so my blogging zeal lacks lustre. Don't give up on me, faithful readers/viewers.... I'll be back.

I'm sick in a hotel room in Moscow.... so, perhaps this is a farewell post. Just be glad there are no pictures... heh. I'm supposed to be having a great time (all expenses paid by the tri-state history consortium) and I'm supposed to be getting loads of work done, but, alas, that is not happening. UGH! Don't delete my blog when I'm gone!!!!!

My recent hike was fun and pretty, including majestic mountains, fruited plains and a dusty walk through a burn. That was too bad, but quite pretty. Now I've got to get up onto the hill to take some pix of the amber waves of grain!

Mom had a stroke and has been in the hospital, but look how good she looks. She had lots of visitors; it's nice that she has so many people who care about her and value her. She has some residual confusion and slow down of speech, but she's made great strides... and physically she's good (at least for an 88-year-old). She is now staying in a very cozy, familiar room that Sandra fixed up for her at her house. I'll put up a couple of other pictures later.

I didn't get any good fireworks pictures, even though we had a nice time and a pretty spot. The hundreds of boats on the river and the hundreds of cars

on the road would have made a good picture... but, oh well. I was proud to make it to the 1st Thursday art walk in Kennewick... that was on the day that got the hottest...106 I guess. I brought back a start from Mom's little maple tree and got some nicotiana as a bonus. It really likes it here in the heat.

I was out of town last week when Butterscotch turned sweet 16! In this picture, he was a kitten (and Martha was 4!). They still make a handsome couple today... maybe I'll try to duplicate this pose the next time Mar is home.
