Life is interesting around here.... as you can see. (and I'm not even putting up pictures of the amazing performing pigs!)

This town is crawling with marmots! The ones on the Gonzaga campus are shy... but the ones in the park are NOT SHY. This poor guy was trying to eat his lunch on the grass and got stormed! It was so funny. There were actually even more on him... when I stood up to take the photo some of them scampered off.

I'm in Spokane all this week. Mostly I've been attending classes and working pretty long days. But I've been getting up early to ride my bike and staying up late to dine elegantly and have nice long walks and watch movies. And I've taken some artsy pictures. A good life, eh?

I like these beach pictures. Especially when sitting here in the HOT and DRY. They make me feel COOL. They are also a testament to the excellence of my new camera. (click on to make them bigger!)

hmm... today... ? I did some ironing before it got too hot in Mar's room. I feel quite the drudge, but it was actually quite to get ten or so items back into my wardrobe. ... then, in the not-a-drudge department, Gene and I took a long, backroadsy bike ride in the heat of the day. My bike therm. said 101 for most of the ride.... but Gene thinks it wasn't that hot... more like 95. That still makes for a toasty ride. I wondered how the STP was this year. I guess I'll get an update on somebody's blog.

Saw pirate movie today...... hmm. There seemed to be a lack of any real humanity that I could relate to .... only shread was Will and his father. Captain Jack was fine, but not sensational... the Kiera character is a bitchy non-person who I don't care about at all. And the bad guys (soul-less sailors/cannibals) are too visually repulsive to look at comfortably. Perhaps they're going for the effects oscar... ? but I say what good are effects if you don't want to look?

I'm still working. I'm going at a pretty slow pace. I'm not a slave!
We had to empty the fridge, move it, refill it. Today we'll empty it again, put it back, clean it and refill it. Maybe today. I might go to a movie instead. Boy, I'd make a terrible slave.

This is what I'm doing today. Fun, yeah?

I didn't have my camera with me today on my bike ride down to the post office. If I had had it, I would have taken a picture of a car with for sale signs in the back and side windows. At least I'm presuming they said "for sale." The writing was completely bleached off, two white signs. This would help in my quest to photograph the HEAT! The thermometer on my bike read 99 degrees mosts of the ride, but it did spike as high as 107. It either registers the reflected heat from my body, or it's inaccurate when shined on directly by our HOT sun! Good times!

The Blacks (our neighbors) are moving. They bought a house not far from here. I'll miss the little frogs leaping about the yard. sigh. oh, well. sam and noah will be in our school next year, so I'll probably see them more in the winter than I do now. =0)

We had a very nice 4th. The sky featured prominently.

I don't know why I think Jake's is a photo op. Nice walk down the canyon, shady but hot. Don't you think Gene fails to fit in with the diner crowd? Actually Jake's attracts a range of characters, but tattoos and crewcuts do prevail with the older regulars.

Random pictures of most recent trip to Seattle. Snowy mountains, nice fresh hike, then crazy fun time with crazy fun friends...
... a superimaxman movie, sunny hours,

...macrina lunch with beautiful fun friend, bookstores, parks, healthy hedonism. Then more fresh mountain air, waterfall walk. And home. Crammed.
